VastuCalc Privacy Policy

Applies to the VastuCalc mobile application (package in.sagarkhengat.vastucalc).

1. Who this policy covers

This policy explains what information VastuCalc ("we", "us", the "app") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to your use of the VastuCalc Android application. By using the app, you agree to this policy.

2. Information we collect

Account information

How you sign in determines what we collect:

• Guest: we create an anonymous account identifier only. No name, email, or phone number is collected.
• Google Sign-In: your name, email address, and Google account ID.
• Phone (OTP): your phone number, used to verify and secure your account.

Content you create in the app

When you use VastuCalc you may create and store:

• Project details (name, role, plot area, budget and financial figures);
• Ledger entries — expenses, advances and payments you record;
• Material and cost estimates from the calculators, and your saved rate card;
• Contacts you add to a project's team directory (names, trades, phone numbers);
• Receipt photos you choose to attach to ledger entries.

This content stays on your device and, if you are signed in, is backed up to your private cloud storage tied to your account.

Purchase information

If you buy VastuCalc Pro, purchase and subscription status is managed by our payments partner RevenueCat. Payment itself is handled by Google Play Billing — we never receive your card or bank details.

Advertising & device information

For users on the free tier, our advertising partner Google AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier and related device and usage information in order to serve ads. Pro users do not see ads. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your Android device settings.

Usage & analytics information

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used. This records behavioural events — such as which screens you open, which calculators you run, when a project or ledger entry is created, and when an export or purchase is attempted — together with general device and app information (device model, operating system version, app version, language, and approximate region).

These events are associated with your account identifier, so activity can be grouped across sessions and devices belonging to the same account. This applies to guest (anonymous) accounts as well.

We do not send the contents of your work into analytics. Names, phone numbers, addresses, note text, receipt images, and rupee amounts from your projects, budgets and ledger are excluded; where a quantity matters for analysis it is recorded as a rounded or bucketed value rather than an exact figure.

You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Data → Share usage data. Turning it off stops event collection and clears the analytics identity on your device.

Technical & diagnostic information

We use network connectivity status to enable offline mode and syncing, and our infrastructure provider (Google Firebase) may collect basic diagnostic information to keep the service reliable.

3. How we use your information

• To provide the app's core features — estimates, budgets, ledgers, directory and PDF exports;
• To back up and sync your data across sessions and devices when you sign in;
• To verify your identity and secure your account;
• To process and restore VastuCalc Pro purchases;
• To display ads to free-tier users;
• To maintain, troubleshoot and improve the app.

4. Storage, sync & security

VastuCalc is designed to work offline — your data is written to your device first and syncs when a connection is available. When you are signed in, your data is stored in your own account space on Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage). Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections, and access is restricted so that only your authenticated account can read or write your data.

5. Third-party services

We rely on the following trusted providers to operate the app. Your information is shared with them only as needed to provide their part of the service:

6. Sharing & disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers listed above to run the app, or where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the app.

7. Data retention & deletion

• Guest data. Using VastuCalc as a guest creates an anonymous account with Firebase Authentication. Your projects, ledger entries and receipt images are written to your device and also backed up to that anonymous account in the cloud — guest data is not device-only. Because an anonymous account has no email or phone number attached, it cannot be recovered if you uninstall the app or clear its data, and any cloud copy is then orphaned. We delete orphaned anonymous accounts and their data after 12 months of inactivity. Sign in with Google or your phone number to make an account recoverable.
• Signed-in data is retained in your account until you delete it or request account deletion.
• To delete your account and associated data, use Settings → Your data → Delete account in the app, which deletes everything immediately. You can also submit our web deletion request form or email us at the address below from your registered email address or with your registered phone number; we action those within 30 days. Deletion removes your account identity, your projects, budgets and ledger entries, your receipt images, your saved contacts and estimates, and your analytics identity. Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription — cancel that in the Play Store. Records we are required to keep for tax or legal reasons (such as purchase records held by Google Play) are retained for as long as the law requires.

8. Permissions we request

• Camera — only to let you photograph a receipt to attach to a ledger entry.
• Photos / Media — only to let you pick an existing receipt image. On Android 13 and later we use the system photo picker, so we see only the images you choose.
• Vibration — for haptic feedback on key actions.
• Internet & network state — to sync your data and detect offline mode.

Permissions are requested at the time you use the related feature, and you can revoke them in your device settings.

9. Children's privacy

VastuCalc is intended for construction professionals and homeowners and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

10. Your rights

You may access, correct, or delete your data, and withdraw consent, by using the in-app controls or contacting us. Specifically:

• Withdraw analytics consent — Settings → Privacy & Data → Share usage data.
• Change ad privacy choices — Settings → Privacy & Data → Ad privacy choices, or reset your advertising ID in Android settings.
• Delete your account and data — Settings → Your data → Delete account. You can also submit the web deletion request form or email us; we action those within 30 days.
• Get a copy of your data — Settings → Your data → Export my data saves everything in this account as a JSON file. You can also email us for an export.

Depending on your region, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act.

11. International users

Our infrastructure providers may process and store data on servers located outside your country. By using the app you consent to such transfer, subject to the protections described in this policy and our providers' policies.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice.

This privacy policy is specific to the VastuCalc application. It is provided for the app's users and, where required, its distribution platforms.
